Guitar Hero 3 Tournament
PRIZE
The winner of the Skill Competition and Style Competitions will receive a custom GH3 Guitar and a Samsung P2 Widescreen Portable Media Player which allows users to watch video and listen to music. The runners-up for both the Skill and Style Competions will receive a Samsung K3 digital audio player.
RULES
All tournament participants must pay a $20 online registration fee or $30 at the door. By default all the tournaments will be played on Xbox 360s and if you like please bring your own guitar, but we will have guitars
for use in case anyone needs to use them. There are two main tournaments:
Skill contest: suggested skill level: Expert
Style contest: suggested skill level: Any skill level
SKILL CONTEST
Hyperspeed mode is allowed only if both participants agree on it at the beginning of the match. The tournaments are scheduled to be double elimination but if there are time constraints, it may be changed to single elimination if needed. It will be best two out of three songs. The first song will be chosen by the winner of a coin toss. The second song will be chosen by the loser of the coin toss. The third round (if needed) will be hand picked from random out of a basket by the judge (or chosen directly by a judge). Only a select list of approved song will be selectable.
STYLE CONTEST
The contestants are judged more on skill than style and may play songs on any skill level. Each contestant will perform alone, choosing any song, at any skill level in front of a panel of judges. The judges will consider the guitar player's skill, but the majority of the points will be awarded based upon the guitar player's appearance, presentation, and overall rock-star style.
