Top Five Games

Newton's Picks

These are my top 5 games. I figure you can learn a lot about me based on what I find exciting. Post your own top 5 as a comment.

1) Starcraft 2 (PC) My college years were marked by girls walking past my room and yelling “There’s lurks in your mineral line” in through my door. They were making fun of me yelling across the hall to the guy I was usually playing with. If I could go back I would change nothing.

2) Smash Brawl (Wii) Actually, Starcraft was my freshman year and Smash Brothers dominated my later time there. Going to tournaments at other schools, and playing on a huge screen in front of an auditorium full of competitors got me hooked. It’s also the best electronic drinking game you can play.

3) Age of Conan (PC) With the announcement of a probable option to play a server with item looting in PVP AOC jumped to the top of my list. Only because SC and Smash are proven already are they ahead of this. The though of an MMORPG that is actually fun is like a light in the dark at this horrible point in the genres history.

4) Crysis (PC) This first person shooter is built using Direct-X 10 so it’s absolutely gorgeous. It also has a lot of elements that seem exceptionally fun, like fully destructible environments! I have high hopes the map editor will spawn a counterstrike like multiplayer online FPS.

5) Spore I was excited about this one before they even added the imprinting ability. Now players will be able to encounter other people’s civilizations and do whatever they want to them. It won’t affect them on their end, but they will receive a report about how their race is doing in the parallel universes.
