Wii Fit Balance Board

Wii Fit may be the greatest gaming idea ever. The Wii Balance Board sits in front of your television like the old Nintendo Track and Field floorpad. The board senses the position of your body and is even capable of determining your body/mass index. Overweight players aught to be ready to get an earful, because the board is already notorious for not shying away from telling things like they are. The game consists of a large number of mini games just like other Wii titles such as Wii Sports, or Wario Ware Smooth Moves. The only difference is in Wii Fit each of the game is actually just an excersise. Some are in disguise, like head butting soccer balls into the goal, others however are less distinguishable from generic gym routines, doing push ups for example.

The question is if the "game" is actually fun or not. If you don't feel like you are doing excersise, but you are getting a good work out, that would be amazing. If instead it feels like you are doing nothing but work out and the game is not distracting you from this fact at all that would suck. Gamers don't really enjoy working out in general.

I'm really happy Nintendo went in this direction though. I've envisioned a game that could help get a player in great shape for over a decade. This title might be the first game ever to unlock that potential killer application for video game useage. There is also a possibility to incorporate this board into action games. Imagine boxing in Wii Sports with the pad sensing the direction you are twisting and leaning. If this were converted to your character on the screen the boxing game would be more fun and realistic and also a very hard work out.
