The most exciting news to come out of E3 yet was announced today. Nintendo has set the official release date for Smash Brawl; December 3rd, 2007.

Smash Brawl was initially announced an entire year ago at E3 2006, and ever since fans have been fiending for information on the title. The previous title of the franchise, Super Smash Brothers Melee, was the best selling game for the gamecube console because of its broad appeal. The fast paced four player fun defines the series as a great party game, but hardcore players are also extremely attracted to it because of the deep learning curve and competitive tournament circuit.

Previous to this announcement the only information really known about Brawl was which new characters will be appearing. These characters are Wario, Pit (Kid Icarus; pictured above), Meta Knight (who is a villain from Kirby), and Solid Snake. In addition to brand new characters Samus has gotten a re-vamp and will be appearing as "Zero suit Samus", who really reminds me quite a bit of Sheik from Smash melee.
