Games Convention 2007 Leipzig

Many awesome demos

This years Games Convention in Leipzig Germany holds a ton of promise. Demos have been announced for many of the most exciting games of the coming year. The conventions theme is "Play, it's in your nature", and this is certainly true of people like us. If only we could be there to experience first hand the most highly anticipated RTS game of all time, the new WoW expansion, and finally a critical playable demo of an amazing PvP MMORPG. Sports games are also represented on the ticket with 2k sports showcasing a few key titles.

2k games is not only demoing their new shooting game Borderlands, but also Civilization: Revolutions which is the first ever Civilization game to come out for a home console system. The Civ franchise was one of the biggest turn based game series of all time, and a console platform is sure to re-vitalize the game. The sports branch, 2k Sports, is demoing Top Spin 3, NBA 2k8, and NHL 2k8 as well.

Age of Conan will have a playable demo at the convention. This is the biggest, most exciting and important demo at the convention. This game promises to be one of the first real PvP driven MMORPGs to come out in years due to talks of player looting in PvP being an option on some servers.
Riding on spectacular direct X 10 graphics the game delivers a "dark brutal" experience and is targeted at a mature audience. Real consequence driven PvP with player controled politics behind the conflict is the real way MMORPGs are supposed to be played. This is way more exciting than Starcraft II.

Speaking of Starcraft II, Blizzard is going to have a huge number of booths were attendees can play either Starcraft II demos or World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King demos. If they grew a pair and made WoW a good game (even on only 1-2% of the servers) I would be remotely excited by this. As it stands I'm not going to get hype over being able to demo some new rep grinds and poinless battlegrounds. Woohoo, more of the same exact boring game! I'll be in the AOC line where I can actually have a guild vs guild conflict, know my enemies, and inflict pain on those I dislike.
