World Series of Video Games

Televised on CBS, July 29th at Noon

The Louisville stop of the World Series of Video Games is set to be broadcast on national television thanks to CBS Sports. The hour long special will air on Sunday, July 29th at noon Eastern Standard Time. The event consists of Guitar Hero II, Fight Night Round 3, Quake 4, and World of Warcraft competitions of the most serious nature. The gamers are competing for a piece of a $90,000 cash prize purse. No excuses are going to fly in this environment, so everybody better bring their A game.

The Guitar Hero event is the most interesting part the show. The players are going to be required to play their songs on an actual stage in front of a live crowd. The judges are instructed to weigh their "showmanship" and "performance" as heavily as their actual Guitar Hero playing! The television covereage is undoubtedly going to make this crazy to say the very least. This could possibly be the next American Idol folks!

Of course the ubar nerds like me are interested in the WoW competition. The best 3v3 arena teams in the world are playing heads up matches to determine who walks away with the cash. Currently the Pandemic team has a healthy hold on their first place position, but contenders such as Insurrection and MoB TurtlePower are convinced they will emerge victorious. Watching on July 29th is the only way to find out who will be proven the best WoW 3v3 arena players in the world.

Does this really seem reminiscent of the way the World championships of Magic the Gathering were broadcast on ESPN 2 to anyone else?
