Google China Sued

Misdirected calls disrupting

A Chinese company Peking Guge has filed suit against Google's Chinese branch for registering a name simmilar to its own.

According to company officials at Peking Guge the registered name of Google when translated into Chinese is the same as the name they already have registered for their company. This similarity causes confusion for people trying to reach the U.S. search engine, and often they mistakenly call "Guge". All these mistaken calls are disrupting the work at the company to the point where they felt legal action was justified and required.

A spokesman for the company in question explained how people searching for Google through the local telephone directory were often re-directed to them instead of to the correct number.

China's Hadian District court accepted the case, but it is still unclear as to weather the case will be successful. Google representatives declined to comment.
