I know I have a dark sense of humor, but does anyone else find it hillarious that Sony was sued over their Cell Processor in the PS3? Apparently the "concept" of cell prossesing is already patented by a company called ........ you guessed it, Parallel Processing. This company aquired
This Patent in 1991.
Now they are claiming that Sony's actions, in creating the PS3's cell processor in conjunction with IBM, have caused them "Irreparable harm and monetary damage." Here is the really funny part. They are seeking damages, reimbursment of legal fees, and "the impounding and destruction of all Defendant's products that infringe on the patent"
This sounds like some ultimate wet dream of Microsofts How is it possible to patent something as broad as "parallel processing?" Also, how come these people waited this long to bring this up? They had plenty of public information about the plans for PS3 for years. I think legally you aught to be laughed at when Sony has been advertising this and boasting about it, and you decided to wait until they invested hundreds of millions and created copious ammounts of units before bringing up your lawsuit and requesting it all be impounded. If you didn't have a hidden agenda you would never wait until this point.
