Final Fantasy XI: Online was first released to North America in 2003. The game is based in the world of Vana'diel, where there is plenty to do including storylines in three nations, four expansion packs and two Dynamis realms. Players have more choices with their characters, and are able to customize in the races in a manner new to the Final Fantasy series. They can choose traits including race, gender, face, hair color, body size, job and nationality. All the battles now occur in real time, and are no longer random encounters.

In this interview by Seyda we chat with Ireth from the Sylph server of Final Fantasy XI about the life and times of a healer.

How long have you been playing Final Fantasy XI?
A little over two years

Do you own all of the expansions?
Yes I do

And which one of those is your favorite?
I would say the latest one to come out which is treasure of Aht’Urghan, ToAU, I can never remember the name because I always abbreviate it.

What do you like about that expansion?
I like all the things that it added to the game, it added a whole new separate system of conquest, with the Imperial City, you become a mercenary and instead of just getting the conquest points for your country you can get a different type of thing where you get imperial standings by fighting the monsters in the new region, and it also ended up adding a lot of new things for the level 75s, because even though there’s a ton to do after you hit 75 a lot of the camps for partying and meriting got a little crowded and TOAU added a lot of new camps and it also added new equipment, new jobs, and new notorious monsters, and my favorite thing, a bunch of new abilities came out at the same time, my character got two new spells and two new abilities which are meritable at 75 which I find to be really awesome to use, so all in all it just added a lot for end game.

Tell us about your main character?
My main character is a Mithra White Mage/Black Mage, the white mage is the primary healer of the game, there are other jobs that can do healing but for events, like end game events and boss fights people will usually go for a White Mage and Mithra is a cat person.
