The reporters from UO radio had a chance to sit down with Richard Garriott at their recent UO Town Hall Metting in Austin Texas. Yup, thats right, the big man himself behind Ultima Online was present at the event and took the time to sit down and answer some questions. Listen to the podcast
Here.
The interview contains a very interesting anecdote where Lord British describes one of his early experiences GMing in UO. Apparently a thief angered him by repeatedly robbing a woman and made him think long and hard about grief players. He got so angry at this poor player he almost banned him just for playing the thief class the way it was designed.
In addition to sitting down with Lord British they also got a chance to interview lead designer Patrick "Leurocian" Malott. That interview is available
Here. One highlight of this interview is that he was actually able to share some information about the future direction of UO.
When asked why so much money and time were dedicated to Kingdom Reborn when there are still a lot of old bugs bothering the active community he said "We started working out the bugs and complaints about the PvP aspect
with John. There are other areas that we are working on, but we can only get to
maybe 25 or 30 different things in a certain amount of time. We know there is a lot
more to do, we are trying to get through more of the bugs. We only get to see
certain things in KR, but there are a lot of new things in the works in crafting.
Where you can set different properties or intensities on craftable items which is
something the players have been asking for, for a very long time"
