Nintendo has announced that Smash Brawl for the Wii is not going to be playable at E3 next week. Smash brothers was the second best selling game for Nintendo Gamecube. The four person simultaneous fighting game is truly fun and unique. Imagine playing street fighter two with 3 other players on the screen at the same time. The hearts of players were captured by the extremely fast paced action and deep learning curve of the game. Combine that with the social glory that is a four man console game (madden, wii bowling) and you have smash in a nut shell. Tournaments for the game sprang up around the country with prizes and the chance to play on a big screen in front of a cheering crowd. Brawl is sure to be an insanely huge game. The disappointment due to this announcement is palpable.
It's ok though. The Gamecube version is more than good enough. Super Smash Brothers Melee will not get old for many years yet. This also only effects people who are going to E3, and I doubt that demographic includes many of you. There not being a playable version at the show does not definitely indicate something bad about the game. It could just mean that they are making absolutely sure that everything is perfect before they make their first impression.
