Time Crisis 4

Nintendo Bandai continues the tradition

The near extinction of the arcade shooter genre didn't deter Namco Bandai from coming out with Time Crisis 4 (TC4 hereafter), a fourth entry to one of the longest running light gun series ever.

TC4 keeps the tradition alive with its unique cover mechanism along with a few new suprises. Unlike the previous versions, TC4 allows the player to actually take control of the screen. According to testers, there will be five FPS levels interspersed throughout the arcade campaign. Yes, players will use the analog sticks on the Guncon 3 or the regular PS3 controller to run around freely throughout these levels.

Aside from these FPS levels, TC4 does provide the traditional arcade shooting action, but with more complexity than in the prequels. TC4 deviates from the common guided-action by employing what is called the "multi-screen system" where the player has to tend to enemies coming from multiple directions. To control the line of sight, players will have to simply aim offscreen in the desired direction.TC4 looks like it will continue to exhibit the action packed fast gameplay, and along with the aformentioned features, maintain its status as the genre leader.
