Durring the E3 convention, there was a circulating rumor about Rockstar Games developing the new table tennis game for Wii. With todays announcement it just became official; Rockstar's Leeds studio will be releasing "Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis" for Nintendo's next-gen console. Wait a minute, Rockstar? Really?
Famous for being branded the industry bad boy with it's "casually sadistic" Grand Theft Auto franchise Rockstar is now coming out with a ping pong game? The whole situation seems a little ironic, but it sure does sound interesting. Come to think of it; why not? They already announced their first next-gen game was going to be a ping pong game for X-box 360. It only makes sense to re-develop the game for the Wii's motion sensing controls.
According to an interview with Rockstar's executive producer Sam Houser, "by bringing table tennis to the Wii and utilizing the motion-sensitive Wii remote, a new audience can now experience a game that is beautifully designed and impossible to put down." Critics applauded at the X-box version of the game, which featured ultra relistic ball physics using the same RAGE engine as GTA IV.
