Far Cry 2 Announced

Ubisoft at the helm

After battling hordes of info thirsty fanatics armed with accidental information leaks from Ubisoft's database itself, the publisher was left with no choice but to admit its upcoming release of the sequel to the Far Cry franchise. Yes, the long, long, LONG awaited announcement is finally here, but sadly it amounts to nothing more than a teaser at this point.

The original developer for Far Cry 2 was Crytek, but they have moved into a new partnership with EA to develop the massive project Crysis. The Far Cry right still remained with Ubisoft, leading to the obvious theory that they were developing the game. It wasn't until images from the game were accidentally included in an Ubisoft press release however that the rumors really gained legs. Now after the announcement was released visiting the official site only leaves one disappointed by the lack of content. It begins on an African landscape and then quickly transitions to the Far Cry 2 logo. An official unveiling of in depth information is expected to happen in the fall of this year.

For now we are left with this promising quote from Ubisofts Tony Key. "Far Cry marked the beginning of a new era for shooters. An era of gorgeous graphics and of advanced artificial intelligence. We are confident that Far Cry 2 will have the same impact again on the FPS genre landscape."
