A lot of exciting news can come out over a single weekend when it comes to the massive game industry. This weekend was no exception, with the release of quite a few tantalizing articles. Lucky for you I'm here to consolidate and filter this news into the most exciting tidbits. A Lego Indiana Jones game that covers all three of the existing Indy movies is a pretty sweet place to start.
Brought to you by Lucas Arts and Traveller's Tales, the same people who made the Lego Starwars games, the new Lego Indiana Jones title is sure to please. It covers the action from Raiders of the Lost Arc, The Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade, so no Indy fan will be dissapointed. There will surely be a lego snake pit, a lego "heart ripping out sacrifice" might be included, plenty of mine cart action is practically gauranteed, and I've personally always wanted to try my hand at a Lego grail selection challenge. Guess it's my lucky day. The game is going to be released for all three systems, choose wisely.
EA also made an exciting announcement at the San Diego Comic Convention this weekend. They announced the upcoming release of a new Marvel Comics based fighting game being produced by their Chicago branch. The game is not set to come out until next year, but it is exciting news right now because the developers have been talking it up quite a bit. Kudo Tsunoda of EA Chicago said "None of the games that have come out so far have paid off what an epic superhero battle is all about." He described fighting in open areas that span multiple city blocks. After Def Jam Icon I can imagine things getting a little crazy, with super heroes being able to knock down buildings on top of each other or something equally Fist of the Northstar-ish
Another morsel of gaming news goodness to drop this weekend was the announcement by Sony that they are going to be the proud owners of an exclusive new Rockstar game franchise. No word on what the game will be like or how much Sony paid for this exclusive (from their respect bank of course), but supposedly Rockstar really wanted to make a game that took avantage of the PS3's maximum Cell processor and Blue-Ray capabilities. Look for more news regarding this hot property soon.
