Crysis Demo Saturday

Includes single player and level editor

Crysis is one of my most highly anticipated games on the horizon. Set to launch on November 16th, the FPS game is the first in a hopefully long line of direct-X 10 games with insane system requirements. Tomorrow on Saturday the 27th the downloadable demo will be available to the general public Here . The graphical innovations include dynamic shadows and fully destructible interactive environments. The trees can all be cut down by bullets and driving a truck into a building will cause it to break realistically. In real time, the shadows of these objects will be altered as the sun moves across the sky in a cycle of night and day.
Crysis has a mechanic that is extremely cool which allows you to switch between moving ultra fast, being super strong, or other options like taking less damage from enemy fire. It reminds me very much of the H.a.r.d Corps comic where military personnel were implanted with devices allowing them to ask their operator (matrix style) for various special powers, but only one at a time. When you are in super strong mode you are able to flip over cars and tear the roofs off buildings. When you are in max speed mode you can run up to enemies and stab them almost like a speed hacker in a Counter Strike server.
If your system can handle it I highly suggest downloading the demo tomorrow and giving Crysis a shot. In addition to being able to play an portion of the single player game you also gain access to the level editor. This robust feature is so promising looking I would bet you can create any type of game by using it, even RPG or RTS, not just FPS games. If you really want to be impressive you can create a new map or game using the demo and be ready with your own custom content the second Crysis hits shelves.
