Wii Fit Uproar

Called 10 year old girl fat

There is a controversy about Wii Fit developing over the game supposedly calling a regular 10 year old girl "fat". First things first, the game doesn't use the term "Fat" ever it either says Obese for the worst body mass index or Overweight for the second to worst. Now I recognize the importance of not pushing girls into having eating disorders, but how is a game that classifies body types and encourages you to excersize supposed to pussyfoot around the issue of calling it like it sees it?

The knee jerk reaction to the event has been for a group called "The National Obesity Forum" (in England) to call for the game to be completely banned for kids. Supposedly the body mass index of children fluxuates much more widly than adults and they can be perfectly healthy while still getting scores that register badly in the game. Nintendo countered with the statement "Wii Fit is still capable of measuring the BMI for people aged between two and 20 but the resulting figures may not be entirely accurate for younger age groups due to varying levels of development."

Obviously future copies of the game will be tweaked to be more sensitive to younger ages. It will probably ask you to enter your age and if you are anything under 18 tell you that you are a super special snowflake even if you are total fat ass.
