Ok kids, its time to grab your Ak-47 and head into battle with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward, the people responsible for making you lose countless hours of your life to the long-lasting, reliable series CoD, is here to usher you into the 21st century. And what could Call of Duty possibly do to improve its already immaculate history? How about a game title that isn’t set in World War II? If I play one more WWII game I’m going to turn emo.
Call of Duty 4 sports some of the most striking visuals and effects seen in a video game to date and yet you still feel like you’re playing a Call of Duty game. Your eyes will be begging you for a break between with the constant action of colossal explosions and the massive amounts of bullets whizzing by your head.
In this latest CoD, the adrenaline rush is higher than ever. Enemies still spawn until you reach a certain point making the oncoming action so staggering that you have to play through stages a couple times just to realize what’s going on.
Sometimes there are over 45 characters on screen at a time.
The online multiplayer is extremely in depth and customizable. CoD uses a nicely implemented level up system where almost every action is rewarded with points that can be used to further modify your character. It’s truly rare to find a game that excels in all aspects of game play. If I had to complain about something it would be that CoD should have finally implemented a Co-op mode. But since there never was a co-op mode in Call of Duty, it’s hard to miss something you never had. Overall the game has exceeded my expectation in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Someone should tell Infinity Ward that war isn’t supposed to be this enjoyable.
Do I recommend this game?
Plowing through hordes of enemy soldiers never gets boring.
Who should play this game?
If you’re not borderline retarded, then you should already own this.

With the upcoming Crysis release, most FPS games are obsolete to PC gamers. That is also the case with Call of Duty 4 since it has elements in it which will keep console owners happy and PC gamers bored. Despite a very short story mode, COD4 is extreme in every way. I've played a lot of FPS games in my day and have not seen such intensity since BF2.
COD4's gameplay is even more intense than the sex between Lance Bass and Justin Timberlake. COD4's weapons aim through sights much like in previous COD games. The weapons themselves do a lot of nasty damage-- they will rip your foes apart much like Justin rips Lance apart in bed. What really shines in this game is the multiplayer mode, but I don't think that PC gamers will be impressed with this. We have seen loads of similar games such as BF2, Quake Wars, UT and Ghost Recon. This game stands out because you actually level up and unlock different abillities (in multiplayer). You can also call in Air Strikes--to call in an Air Strike you need to murder a certain amount of people in a row; the more people you kill the better Air Strike you get.
If have a rig that can run Crysis hang in there -- if you Have a PS3, Xbox 360 or an equal quality PC get this game. The campaign mode in this game is shorter than a baby mouse's penis but a lot of shit goes down during those 5 hours. What's silly about this game is that most enemy soldiers belong on a major league baseball club. They constantly manage to land a grenade from 200 feet away right at your feet. You will mostly die because of grenades, so get used to it.

I recommend this game to PS3 owners since they don't have decent FPS.

Call of Duty 4 is astoundingly good. Taking the series out of the World War II era was the best decision imaginable. I don’t particularly want to be shooting random Germans, but I really do get a nice warm feeling in my gut when I mow down 100 arabs a minute.
Intensity is what this game is all about. The enemies stream in and they don’t stop. The cover you are trying to hide behind gets shot to shreds, leaving you with only one option, rush!
My favorite aspect of the game is the customization that is available for your character. I’m a huge fan of Counterstrike and have always desired the ability to pimp out my gun or customize my character. In this game you can choose between sweet upgrades like martyrdom (where you automatically drop a live grenade upon death) or a radar jammer for particularly sneaky players. This type of mechanic has been long overdue till this point.
The few downsides I experienced include the “auto-lock” ability where you hit a single button and it targets an enemy for you. I really prefer to have to think and aim my weapon, not just get good at spamming hotkey then shoot as fast as I can. Automated aiming is the bane of true skill in an FPS.
I felt the game is too linear. The maps are big and I often wished I could flank the enemy, but had no option to do so. I was forced to simply rush at them and kill them by auto locking and shooting them as fast as I could manage. I have to give this game more play time before I decide if i want to give up CS:S and start playing this as my main FPS. That alone is saying a TON about how amazing this game is, because I would rate CS:S as a straight up 100. The fact that cheats like aimbot and wallhack have probably not been written for this yet may indeed tip the balance in CODs favor.
Do I recommend this game?
Absolutely. This game is intense and way above average.
Who should play this game?
